As Rising Tide Society is making waves and lots of creatives are coming together to create a sense of community over competition I find myself contemplating, “do I fit in?” I think of myself as a creative and as a boss lady, but do I really belong with the Rising Tide Society? I’m not a business owner, I don’t have an Etsy shop (maybe someday…) instead I have a full time job – one I love and work really hard at. I realize many creative entrepreneurs of the Rising Tide Society are working their way to full time. Running a side shop while working a 9 – 5. But what happens if you love your job and it is more demanding than a typical 9 to 5? Although opening up my open corporate event planning business or running an Etsy shop may be a day dreams of mine, I’m not there yet, instead I am focused on my marketing job and growing my department. Does this make me less of a boss lady? Does it eliminate me from being a creative?
By nature of what I do I feel like I am a creative. I love to collaborate with others, I’ve worked in the event planning industry, I style photo shoots on a regular basis for interior design and home decor, I manage multiple social media accounts, and am the editor of Capitol Lighting‘s blog, Live Brighter. I’ve designed my daily / weekly planner for the past 4 years myself, I’ve created invitations for baby showers, bridal showers, save the dates and weddings, but yet somehow I don’t feel like I truly belong as a Rising Tide Society member.
Until I went to today’s Tuesdays Together in Fort Lauderdale! The group of creative and entrepreneurial men and woman were so welcoming and confirmed I too am a boss lady and fellow creative! You don’t have to own a business to be owning it in your profession. I am so happy I made the time to go to today’s meeting. It was so well worth it and inspiring to be surrounded by other like-minded individuals.

After meeting all of the wonderful creatives from today’s session and discussing Routines, I am revved up and excited! I can’t wait to thrive in the spirit of Community Over Competition!
So, if you are feeling like I was about joining and actively participating in Rising Tide, I say do it! Jump both feet in, get wet and make waves, because I can honestly say I feel so much better about deciding to truly join the movement. You too are a boss lady (or gentleman) and are a fellow creative! Go and make your day dream happen!
