My love afair with yummy Acai Bowls started many many moons ago.
I recently had to adjust my diet to go gluten-free and dairy-free and this has been my go-to breakfast, snack, and sometimes lunch since making the switch.
Earlier this year, I felt like I perfected my method and found the perfect recipe for this delicious dish I used to only order out and about at my favorite resturants.
And because it’s not real life unless you post it to the ‘gram, many friends started asking for the recipe and wanted all the details of my at-home acai bowl recipe. So, I figured it was time for an update to my old post and to share the recipe with you!
INGIDENTS FOR BASE:
- 4 TBS Navitas Organic Acai Powder (I love this one!)
- 2 Bananas
- 1 Cup Almond Milk (this is my favorite brand!)
- 1 Cup of Ice
DIRECTIONS FOR PREPPING THE BASE:
- Blend together the ingredients
- Pour into ice cube tray (these ones are great: https://amzn.to/2KLK8j9)
and then put in the freezer - Once frozen, move them into a sealed container for best storage
WHEN YOU’RE READY TO EAT YOUR ACAI BOWL:
- Take 4 to 6 of the frozen cubes and blend with 1 banana
- Pour into a bowl for the base and top with your favorite toppings
Mine are bananas, strawberries, granola (this GF granola is so good!), coconut shavings and honey, but you can do whatever you like!
That’s it! It’s a super simple and easy recipe, but I definetly think prepping the base ahead of time and freezing it does the trick to get the right consistency for the smoothie base.
